I hate the experience, it's so hard to figure out what to do. I've contacted like 10 people about places and nobody answers. I don't understand what the point is. Three people declined my chat with no apparent reason. Don't use it unless you're trying to waste your time and energy.

Every time I open a message a notification pops up asking if I would like to be notified whenever I get a message and I tap “not now” and then I close it and open up another message box from someone else and the notification asks me again if I’d like to be notified. Every time I open a message this notification pops up. It’s SO ANNOYING!! I even turned off all my notifications from Roomi and I STILLLL get every message and every text and everything from it.
  • Great verification options

I liked the way you had to be verified through multiple channels. It feels like that prevents a lot of scammers. I wish it would let you filter user profiles by where in a city they're looking to live - "New York City" is way too broad and I could have saved a lot of time searching for potential roommates if it would have let me filter down to at least a borough. I also wish it would let me favorite or otherwise indicate which profiles I wanted to keep for future contact, or at least gray out the ones is passed on. It just seemed like I was constantly forgetting who i had already looked at and passed on, since there was no way to separate users. Overall I'm more impressed than with the other app I used, Spare Room. Roomi had a very wide selection of demographics, which I liked, and I appreciated the quick response when I contacted them about my address being listed as another neighborhood (Flushing is not Woodside!) I did end up finding a roommate with Roomi and would recommend it to a friend, but if they could add those features I mentioned above, I'd add a star!
  • Apartment search done in days

I was looking to move before August 1st which is always the hardest time to find a place, but Roomi made it so easy. It was quick to set up a profile and get verified, you even have the option to complete a background check. I managed to find a place within a week of using the app, and by paying rent through Roomi’s secure booking system I was able to make sure that my money was transferred safely and that I wouldn’t get scammed. Much more personable than craigslist. Super intuitive and easy app to use and very well designed. Five stars!!
  • 5 for success, but not perfect

Could be better at narrowing down your searches, refining the dates of availability and just better filtering. Otherwise I got lucky and found some good people in a very short time.
  • Best App to help with roommate search

I have been looking for a roommate for sometime and with little success. I have been posting on different websites and apps to try and find someone that would be the best possible roommate. This is the only app where I had not only results but great ones. I had hits almost immediately and was able to find my roommate. If you are looking for an app to use for the roommate search this s by far the best one on the market. Believe me I tried all of them!
  • Don’t put your phone number in

You’ll be constantly messaged by people even if you don’t allow notifications, they’ll just send texts (through Roomi) directly to your phone. It’s also impossible to change your number other than the last 4 digits on the app since the require a specific string formatting but only give you a number pad when editing the phone number field. The app is fine other than that but it was so annoying to constantly be contacted by so many apartment owners.
  • Big Waste of Time

Very limited number of listings, and (in my experience) users will often decline your chat requests for seemingly no reason. I’ve honestly had way better luck with craigslist and good ol word of mouth. Great idea for an app, terrible user base 👎🏾👎🏾
