iMishna HD - English and Audio App Reviews

  • The best app for Jews

    By Hudauy
As a Jew I personally love the app it is the easiest way to study Mishnayos
  • Must Purchase separate for IPhone and IPad

    By Saffire714
I would rate this a 100, however even though it is very much worth the price - to have to buy it twice so that I can have access on my IPhone and IPad is wrong. I purchased on phone first not realizing that you had to purchase separate for pad. My mistake, but very few make you purchase twice. One of the features I love is that my phone becomes a take and go of my pad. almost all of my apps auto sync between the two - this should do the same.
  • Bad purchase

Very little English translations. Not worth it

This is a great program. The only problem is that some of the commentaries need to be reformatted. For example, the commentary of the Bartenura frequently is doubled up, so that the text appears twice, which can be very confusinf (see, for example, Berachos perek alef). There are also sometimes spaces missing between words in the commentaries. If the developer can fix those problems, though, this will be a great program.
  • Not good

I cant figure how to go past chapter 3 on each masechet! Save your money, not intuitive at all. I WANT MY MONEY BACK !!!!!!!
  • Not too bad at all!

I've been impressed with the app but would like to see a few things added if possible. Initially I felt lost with the app since there is no help tool or tutorial to help get used to the app and explain the various options and capabilities that are available within the app so I would like one. Doesn't need to be anything fancy but something is better than nothing. Also it would be lovely to be able to see the vowel points within the text. I realize that most people who know Hebrew don't need the vowel points but having the option would be great (perhaps controlable within the Settings button?). As the description above notes, not every Masechta (section or chapter, if you will, that is organized by subject) has an English translation to go with the Hebrew so that hasn't been updated yet, though they've promised more is coming in future updates, just be aware this hasn't happened yet. If you don't know Hebrew then the Browsing & Search button used to move through the various Masechtas, or chapters, is very difficult to navigate through because the English translation of the Hebrew isn't included within the Browsing or Table of Contents buttons although they do have the English transliteration. Basically, one needs to be very familiar with Hebrew in order to navigate throughout app, especially between the topically organized chapters so be aware. The biggest problem with the app is that there isn't a search option at all. Really this app is great to have if you're interested in the Mishna and even though it's an "expensive" app in the App Store you will not get what they offer for this price anywhere else I know of so I think it's worth it.
