I recommend this app to all my patients as one of the most user friendly options, also it has an extensive database of foods. However, nutrient recommendations and nutrients analysis does bother me. I do have patients customize their macro ranges to the goals we establish in our sessions, otherwise the default settings minimize carbs and maximize protein. Everybody hates carbs at the moment, just like they hated fat in the 80s/90s, we still are unable to understand balance. My biggest complaint however is SUGARS! This app sets sugars to 10% calories which is the guideline for added sugar per the American Heart Association. This app uses sugars naturally occurring in plain milk/yogurt, grains and fruits to count towards sugar as well as cookies, candies, chocolate and so on. It doesn’t differentiate between the two, likely because food manufactures do not yet need to comply with those labeling laws and therefore it is a hard number to determine. If you are eating a balanced, this value will always exceeds the 10% range. I would recommend there be a disclaimer somewhere about nutrient analysis explaining this in addition to modifying code for the foods I listed above, so they are not added to sugars and only total carb count. Otherwise, this is misleading and may promote some to restrict nutrient dense, high fiber foods on a regular basis. Lastly, I have been using this app since 2010/2011. I noticed as it gains popularity, the integrity of reported food nutrient ranges, even when confirmed by other users, are off. The complaint I often hear from patients, is they do not know which to pick because the choices are too many with varying nutrition information. If you aren’t using the picture tool, i agree it takes more time. I personally do look through the nutrition of the foods and report ones I know are inaccurate. Bottom line, this is a great tool of estimation and helps identify trends but it isn’t your personal Dietitian.

I have been overweight my entire life! At 33, 5ft tall, 205lbs, size 18/20 I realized it was time for a change. After a year Of eating right and exercise I had lost most of my weight. I was at 156, at a stand still. I needed something more. I discovered MyFitnessPal. ❤️ it has helped me stay on track and get down to my goal weight! I am proud to say after 2 years of faithfully logging into MFP, I am now at 132lbs, a size 6-8! I have successfully kept the weight off and believe I could not have done this without MFP! So, thank you MFP! 😘

This app is helpful for food tracking. I used it several years ago and now there are many more food items. I am confused that the carb/fat/protein ratios are not very customizable. I like to see grams and when I change one the other two adjust way out of proportion. Still a good app for nutrition tracking.

Since the Premium subscription is tied to the username and not the App as a whole, each user has to purchase their own subscription. Recommend MFP consider offering family options for future updates.

I wish it gave me food ideas for what nutrients I needed more of. Like when I need more proteins, what’s a good lunch to have.
