  • Does not save NY Times articles

    By Trksak
Just realized today that I could not save a NY Times article using Safari. After loading the article via their app, I clicked on the box with the upward pointing arrow and chose Pocket to save the article (as I did with many other articles today). I went immediately to Pocket - nothing! Why? 1/10/18 update: Pocket now asked me to login every time I try to use it, even when I AM logged in. I have to log out and log back in to use it! I was told that I’m in the top 5% of Pocket users. Looks like that is not going to continue if this keeps up.
  • Works well for what I use it for

I mainly download news articles from mainstream sources and short stories (think web novels), and I've loved all the features this app has. I've been a user since before you guys changed the name from Read It Later to Pocket, which... feels like a long time. Granted, Ive never gotten premium because the basic functionalities fit my needs, and some of the related ads/articles suggested to me are actually interesting. Offline viewing works; I don't see the point of putting it onto an icloud as a backup, as another reviewer pointed out- isn't that want the permanent library premium feature is for? I do wish that the dark mode could get darker though - I also turn on night mode and set it to the lowest brightness when I read in bed and it never feels dark enough. One thing I would like is bulk tagging and/or bulk re-adding articles from my archive. It wouldn't even have to be on both mobile and web - just web would be fine, since it's probably easier to do there. (I'm not sure if this is a premium feature already - if it is I'd like to know!) Thanks for making this app, even if this thanks is years overdue!
  • No longer immersive.

New iPhone X update means there is a grey bar that goes over the top in article view. With a dark background, this is very distracting, since it’s lighter than the page, and therefore, emits more light. Imagine if your tv letterboxes in white rather than black— it would make it harder to focus on the screen. For an app that advertises immersion, this was a queer choice. Please bring back a full screen experience.

  • One of my most used apps!

Pocket is my favorite offline reading app and is nearly perfect for my needs. I’ve had it for years and have been in the top 1% of readers since they’ve been giving out the title. I have two small issues that I’d like to see fixed. One, I can't get the badge count to work and I'd like to be able to see how many articles I have left to read. Two, sometimes when trying to read something in article view I find the whole article hasn't downloaded. Fortunately, I have dozens of things to read at any given time so I just go to the next article and download the previous article again once I’m able. These things are more annoying then anything, but they’ve been here for a while and still aren’t fixed so 4/5 stars.
  • Easy to use

    Nice UI and very convenient.
  • Use it every day! Great TTS!!!

I prefer using Pocket to read articles over any other method. I love being able to email links to my pocket account and I have the extension installed on all my computers. My favorite feature of Pocket is the way it parses text for speech. As someone with a learning disability, I greatly appreciate Pocket’s enhanced TTS over iOS’s default TTS engine. I only wish Pocket didn’t default to downloading the articles.
  • Absolutely love

    By kmwarter
I absolutely love this app. As a developer I need to save articles constantly and being able to keep them all in ONE place whether I’m on my personal laptop or work laptop using the Chrome extension is such an amazing LEAN hack- The one thing that could make it better is: my biggest fear is that I will lose articles if the websites change the path or go down altogether. I believe the premium version allows you to save articles not just as links but actual copies so you never lose them. I think this should be possible even for free users. I am apprehensive to get too reliant on too many subscription services where if I go off of them then I lose info- I’d rather not get reliant and come up with a solution. Since we have to put up with ads in the free version but could get rid of ads with a subscription it would be awesome if we still got this feature. If we did I would feel a lot better about continuing to rely on the sweet integration features. The only thing that worries me about this product is it not solving my problem of at least keeping a copy of the text version of articles if the source link goes down.
  • Crashes

    By jakep36
Regularly gets in a cycle where it crashes right after opening it. Only thing that seems to work to fix it is to delete the app and re-install it. I like it when it works, but an app like this needs to be reliable to be useful.
