    I’ve dabbled in meditation for about 2 years now. I’ve read 10% Happier (would recommend) and have also tried other meditation apps. I haven’t been able to stick with the practice, however. I’m only on day 3 of this course, but I just had an amazing experience that I’m not sure I’ve had before using other apps or practicing solo. I felt like my body just melted away and I was only sensation. It was amazing and powerful. I listen to Sam’s podcast and trust him intellectually. I absolutely think that this has something to do with the effectiveness of this app for me. I find that the medium of podcasting makes you feel like you sort of “know” the host after listening to their voice in your ear for hours and hours cumulatively. This has the effect of seeming like I have my own personal mediation teacher! It does not feel like it has been recorded for the world and played by thousands. Can’t wait to see what else is in store and how this helps me to grow my practice.

    Sam Harris' meditations are fantastic. So much better than headspace or anything else I've tried. He does a great job at presenting a different lesson each session to make it more and more clear what the goal of meditation is. As opposed to just sitting there and wondering if it's working yet.

    I’m new to the practice of meditation (about 8 months), but I’ve been using this app habitually on a daily basis and it has helped me in so many facets in my life. I work as a nurse in a stressful field, and meditation has helped me find peace and calm within. I truly believe if more people tried meditation the world would be a better place. This is one reason why I’m writing a review, which I don’t usually do for apps, because I want to bring more awareness. Thank you Sam and your team for this truly wonderful gift which has made such a positive difference. It is really hard to contextualize into words how much I love this to give it proper justice.

    I had the headspace subscription the last three years and completed various packs but never developed a regular habit with it. Waking Up is really next level for me. I find it to be much more rich and interesting, and not just focusing on the breath endlessly. The techniques and guidance is provocative and insightful in Sam Harris typical style. I'm on day 38 and it's clear that it was thoroughly planned in terms of sequencing as it quickly introduces you to the diversity of techniques and then spirals upward, revisiting those techniques and guiding you to deeper and deeper insights into your mind. For me, it is that depth that separates this app from all the other meditation apps I've tried. If you just want to practice honing your ability to follow your breath, headspace, 10% happier or calm will all be just fine (I've used them all). But if you are looking something to help you go beyond simple training of the attention, and live the "examined life" this is the app for you.

    Very useful app since most Homo sapiens are walking around the planet reacting to events without giving much thought at all to why. When you consider the “why”, you realize you have options when reacting. Thank you Sam Harris. And his books are life changing also.
