  • The Best Meditation App Ever Made.

    I have been a long time listener and fan of the waking up podcast, and love everything that Sam Harris has been doing. So when I heard that he was launching a meditation app I was beyond excited. I have been trying to get into meditation for years now, but haven't found an app that kept my interest or held me accountable to sticking with it. Which is why I love the tracking ability with this app to keep you meditating every day. Can't wait for all of the additional course material as well! I think that the importance of mental health is more important than ever in this crazy, messed up world that we currently find ourselves in. Everything that Sam Harris and co. is doing is making the world a better place. Thank you so very much and keep up the amazing work you guys!

  • Great meditation app for all levels

    Highly recommend this app for its daily guided meditations and the accompanying lessons that give Sam's perspective on all-things-consciousness. If you're having trouble getting going with meditation on your own, this is a great tool to start from scratch. If you’re a more experienced meditator like me, you’ll likely find the structure and lessons super insightful. Well worth the meager monthly price of 2 cups of coffee in exchange for a calmer, more introspective mind.

    Been meditating daily for three years and fairly regularly for 8. At least 45 minutes per day. Sam’s course is a great addition. In fact, it’s added a ritual component to my practice. Every morning I head to my little greenhouse and listen. I also use 10% daily and Insight regularly. Sams guidance always adds something new on which to meditate. Thanks!

    I have done many meditation apps and this one, actually with no music, really gets to the heart of the experience. I have loved every utterance from Sam since the release of his first book “the end of faith“. He is full of wisdom, intelligence, humor, insight and the list goes on. This meditation app is no exception! I highly recommend it!
  • Great help for beginning meditation

    It is easy to be mindful, it is difficult to remember to be mindful. This app helps ease that difficulty. I have been aware of the benefits of meditation for quite some time, but finding the time and discipline to actually sit down and do it is very hard. Also, staying on track and keeping focus, especially at the start, are particularly difficult. This app provides a great introduction into the art and theory of the meditative practice, and helped kick start that practice for me. The lessons and meditations are short, but very useful. I am encouraged to begin meditating on my own after just a few sessions with the app. My only hangup is unfortunately the subscription price. Subscribing can be hard when money is tight. But I know that as soon as my income affords me the ability, I will be subscribing to this app to help keep me on a meditative track.
  • More Metaphysical & Less Practical

    I’m generally disappointed with Sam’s attempt to prove metaphysically there is no self. He constantly makes statements that have no real explanation. He insists to trust his method but without any clear explanations along the way or if he does attempt to explain its highly obtuse . We are often told to “look for the looker” and “observe the observer” and that what we sense is merely “content in our consciousness.” These are strange statements without simple and clear explanations or why it even matters. In short his instruction suffers from being un-relatable. He is typically so skillful in articulating concepts that I’m baffled by his approach here. The app has no subjects or categories for reference. Like other apps there is no clear instruction on Anxiety, Anger, Sleep, etc. It’s just unnamed/untitled days that supposedly follows a method he has in mind that he VERY slowly and repetitively shares. He clearly wants you to come to terms with having no self or the truth of non-duality. In fact, he seems far more bent on proving metaphysically that you have no center of consciousness or self that I’m not sure one will gain the fruits of concentrative meditation through his method.

    I have never meditated very seriously, but have always wanted to try. I think that I was scared of being alone in my mind. After trying this for just a few brief sessions I am hooked. Sam’s hypnotic voice had helped bring me to a calm and peaceful oasis from my hectic life three days in a row.

    Hey Waking Up app developers: good job overall, but you forgot to make the app automatically log Mindful Minutes in Apple Health, for both the guided meditations and self-timed meditation. Would be helpful for those of us who track such data!
