Rule Two: Embrace Your True Expenses | Break up larger, less frequent expenses into smaller, manageable amounts. By saving monthly for insurance premiums, holidays, or car repairs, when the time comes, your money is ready and waiting to do its job. Rule Three: Roll With The Punches | When life changes, so must your budget. Make adjustments and move along. Flexible budgets succeed because they’re guilt-free, realistic, and sustainable. Rule Four: Age Your Money | As you repeat the first three rules, you’ll increase the time between earning a dollar and the moment you need to spend it. With YNAB, we have been able to pay off $67,000 + in debt! This system really helps make budgeting a piece of cake. It takes some trial and error at first, but it’s totally worth it. We feel in control of our money, and I love how easy it is to “roll with the punches”! Thanks, YNAB!
  • It works!

I’ve been using YNAB for a year. There was a hump at the beginning in learning how to use it, but I did all the help seminars and used the chat feature to work out my gray areas. My goal has been to stop taking money out of retirement. I hung in there and it’s worked. I just paid a big monthly credit card bill, (not debt), and can cover all my expenses. This being able to move money around and see my income/expenses is very empowering. My nephew 29 and my brother-in-law 62 are both using it very satisfyingly. And we each have a very different financial snapshot.

I’ve been using YNAB for a couple years now, and it’s one of the best decisions of my life. I’ve been able to completely change my relationship with money and realize it’s a tool, like anything else. I’ve been able to focus on the things I truly want and eliminate the other stuff.
  • Reports Are Awful

Love using YNAB but the “Reports” feature is really lame. The only printable output I can get is a grossly formatted .csv file?! Really? Would it be that hard to allow a list filtered for the information I want to see? Also, don’t understand why you won’t just allow a “Running Total” like the old YNAB used to. I understand the philosophy of “the money I have now,” but in the real world, there is a need to project where I’ll be by the time the next paycheck rolls in. Some of us get paid irregular amounts at irregular intervals. I have seen BOTH these issues brought up on forums and still there is no response. Both seem like ridiculously easy things to offer.
  • Charged for a full year!!!!!!!!!

I was charged for an entire year. The app is confusing and I can’t get a refund. Beware of the free trial ending and getting automatically charged. I tried to contact Apple Support and still could not get a refund. I am absolutely furious because I got this app to try to budget and instead am dealing with issues. 0/5 stars. Do NOT get this app unless you have the money and time to figure how to use it. Not intuitive all all and very frustrating.
  • Convenient mobile app!

I think there should be an obvious setting to stop selecting a Split transaction when I make a purchase somewhere after a split was done. I don’t think there’s ever been a situation where I have wanted to split a transaction the same way twice in a row.
  • Best budgeting software!

YNAB has brought peace to my financial life over time. Only complaint is the app is not as full featured as the website. So we always bust out our computer when it comes to detailed work
  • Great App/Poor Security

I love YNAB, it’s a great system to manage finances. However I’m torn because they currently offer no way to secure the application. I have this installed on my iPhone and iPad, and I have to be careful allowing others to use my devices for concern someone can easily open the YNAB app and see my private financial information. I contacted YNAB and they said they have no immediate plans to add security to the app. I can’t imagine this would be difficult to do. Until then I can’t recommend this app to anyone.
  • Finances have never been so good

Before YNAB my finances were out of control. This app has helped me get them under control. Being able to enter expenses wherever I am has helped me get my finances back on track. Also being able to see my budget at any time helps too.
