TripScout - City Trip Planner App Reviews

  • Such a unique way to travel & discover hidden spots only locals know about!

Friends I travel with always ask me, “How do you know where to find all these hole-in-the-wall spots?!” My answer: TripScout! TripScout has made all my trips so memorable, and I feel like a local walking around the city. As a student studying abroad, I used TripScout as a convenient way to travel. The maps are quick and easy to access, and because I was on a budget, it made it a much cheaper way to travel on my own. Plus, I was able to download the maps before I would go exploring- that meant using no data! You can also pre-plan your trip by saving and sorting locations you want to visit! This app has made it easy to connect with the city I’m in because I can go at my own pace. All in all, TripScout has awesome guides that are very informative, fun, and interactive... Love this app, now all my friends are using it!
  • Ultimate travel app!

This app keeps getting better and better. I love that I no longer have to use/purchase a number of guide books, offline maps, etc - I just download one TripScout city and I’m good to go. Any other recommendations from friends I easily input and now I can read well-reputed travel blogs within the app - brilliant! Keep up the good work, this is hands down my favorite travel planning app and an app I actually recommend to people constantly.

Easy to use. Smooth transition between map and list. Great descriptions. Love the pictures on the map. Love the filters to see just what I'm interested in. Love the check off what i've seen and room to make notes. Love that i can use offline. I HIGHLY recommend this app.
  • Faulty App.

I downloaded this app., and was able to purchase two guides. Shortly after I purchased them I was no longer able to access them. I deleted the app., and reinstalled it multiple times, I also reached out to App. support for their assistance, and they couldn’t figure out the issue. I ended up deleting it permanently since it was useless to me. Money down the drain. Good concept, but faulty programming.
  • Inaccurate, no response from Andy

Based on what I saw and the support I received, I wouldn’t spend the memory on this app if it was free. I definitely wouldn’t spend $$ for this! I was able to download one city guide for free, so I picked Savannah, GA, which I know well, to get a feel for the quality of the guide and to see how it matches up with my tastes. I didn’t see anything special- you would get the same recommendations from TripAdvisor, yelp, or any of the free guides out there. What you *wouldn’t* get is recommendations for restaurants that closed several years ago or bars in the “food” category (I mean, you can eat the drink garnish, I guess, so technically it’s dinner?) When you sign up and download a city guide, you get an email from “Andy” that tells you to call, text or email him back. I tried this to see if there was a way to suggest corrections, but never got any response.
  • Very disappointing.

What is the point while you are selling Foursquare free data?! I bought Istanbul guide and its nothing more than Foursquare data. What you are lying about experts curated data?! The UX is very bad.
  • Outstanding Customer Service

I downloaded TripScout in anticipation of an upcoming European trip. It downloaded successfully but somehow it recognized my email twice and I had issues with usage. Konrad worked with me patiently and tirelessly until it was resolved. The customer service is top notch and I’m having fun planning my vacation. Thanks Konrad!
  • Get ready for hidden fees

The app may be free but they charge you per city to unlock all the travel tips! Who does that?
  • Great idea on a flawed app

The guides are very complete, however the app is buggy... doesn’t display maps well, has issues downloading the information and sometimes crashes. I’m using a last generation iPhone... I’ve messaged the developer multiple times about the issue with no response 😕
  • Excellent for the honeymoon

The offline feature of this app was clutch as we navigated our way through Croatia and Greece for our honeymoon. Many of the suggested restaurants we tried were awesome and it helped us prioritize the "must see" places from the ones we could live without.
